275/35/18 Tires: Ford Mustang New Edge Fitment Guide
Installing 275/35/18 tires on a Ford Mustang New Edge (1999-2004) is a popular modification that can provide improved handling and performance. In this article, we will discuss the benefits of installing this size tire, as well as outline the steps necessary to complete the installation.
Installing a 275/35/18 tire on the Ford Mustang New Edge will increase the car’s cornering ability and provide better grip. This size tire is also wider than what is typically found on factory New Edges (245/40/18), which means you’ll have more contact patch with the ground for improved braking performance. Additionally, the larger contact patch will provide traction, as well as optimize your acceleration.
Fitment
“275 are good for the rear wheels, but a little too wide for the front (may rub)”.
It is an optimal tire choice if you want to widen the track or run fender flares, but be aware that it may give your Mustang slightly different handling characteristics than you’re used to due to the larger contact patch. Therefore, take the time to get familiar with how your car handles before heading out for a spirited drive. They improve the stability while cornering, by reducing the body roll, but the turn radius will be affected.
Will they rub up front?
In some cases they tend to rub upfront (fender or sway bar to be specific) as it depends on the rim width and offset. Chance are high they would rub on 18×10 rims, but they look very nice in combination with the ender flares.
Rear Wheels
275/35/18 tires fit without any problems on the rear.
According to the Wheel-Size visual calculator the 275/35/18 tires are about 1 inch wider compared to the factory recommended 245/40/18 tire, but the overall wheel diameter is nearly the same (650mm vs 653mm) which mens there will be no speedometer error or too much stress on your transmission.
