When Less is more – Dodge Challenger R/T 6.4L Scat Pack With Subtle Mods & Splitters

Dodge Challenger

Today, the range of aftermarket parts and accessories is so vast and diversified that anybody can easily find components to meet his or her needs, taste and budget perfectly. However, just like with many other spheres of our life, some units are more popular than others. Especially, if you add social media with a range of already made projects offering you tried decisions and combinations of components, accessories or both. Though, following Instagram starts or other popular bloggers, most likely you won’t feel that kind of pride of ownership and maybe even driving pleasure, compared to the case when you upgraded the car completely by yourself. This way, we are dead sure that even subtle mods that make you happy are more important and precious than pricier but copied upgrades.

Our today’s guest, Alex from Los Angeles, California, also chose not to copy mainstream trends and find his own way of upgrading the car. His 2018 Dodge R/T scat pack already looks distinctive and draws attention with its stock look, so Alex made just a bit of change to make it more personal without over-the-top mods and copying similar trends.

“I love everything about this car: the sound when I put the pedal to the metal, the looks I get when I’m rolling down the street, the little kids pointing at my car and hopefully that inspires them to get one in the future”

And the result makes him really happy in every way. Alex said in our interview: “I love everything about this car: the sound when I put the pedal to the metal, the looks I get when I’m rolling down the street, the little kids pointing at my car, and hopefully that inspires them to get one in the future”. No wonder, that he uses the Challenger as a daily driver and loves it very much. You can find other interesting points and the list of upgrades he made to the car below on this page.

How did you get into the muscle car scene?

– I got into the muscle car scene by accident honestly. I just liked the looks of it at first, then I started seeing different mods on other people’s cars and decided that I want something like that as well. So I started going out to car meets and car shows to kind of get an idea of what I wanted and I started with the pinstripes rims and now I’m waiting on bigger mods.

Why did you choose a Dodge Challenger R/T scat pack?

– I have always believed that a true muscle car can only have 2 doors and if I ever own a car it would have to be 2 doors. Nothing against my fellow Chargers out there but that’s just me. I was lucky enough to get this one so here it is.

What inspired you to choose this modification style?

– Just seeing people doing the same over and over, I thought why not do something “different”? Not over-exaggerating, because sometimes it kills the purpose or your vision and you end up being a copy or a trend follower.

What do you love about your car?

– Man, my car means everything to me. It shows my hard work and it’s my pride and joy when I see it parked outside my house. I love everything about this car, the sound when I put the pedal to the metal, the looks I get when I’m rolling down the street, the little kids pointing at my car and hopefully that inspires them to get one in the future.

Performance modifications

– My engine is stock 6.4L. Nothing crazy, added some pinstripes on the engine cover and so far waiting on the next mods for the new color. I also did a mid-muffler delete along with the resonators that really bring the best out of the car and the sound is amazing.

Suspension

– Suspension still stock, saving up for the soon airbags. I really don’t see a lot of Challengers on bags.

Wheels

– I really took the stock out and put some hellcats on them makes it look a lot meaner and sexier. Now I run 315-35-20 Toyo Proxes Sports AS in the back with 20×11 rims. On the front I have 20×9.5 rims 275-40-20 Toyos as well.

Exterior mods

– So far Big rally gold stripe bumper to bumper, I added some honeycomb under it to make it look 3D and on the sides by the wheels there’s some honeycomb as well but in black. I also have a front splitter, rear diffuser and side skirts. All the work gets done locally by my guy @nextlevelworxz.

Interior mods

– As far as the interior just added some carbon fiber pieces inside on the dash, the center console, and the steering wheel.

What are your future plans for this car?

– I would love to widebody it but with the car community changing with all these electric cars will wait to see what’s next.

Anything else you would like to share about your car or about modifying cars in general?

– If you want to modify your car, make sure you have a vision for it to make it represent what you want people to see, not what others have on their cars. Be original!
